OUR PHILANTHROPIES

CASA/GAL

"The mission of the National Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) and guardian ad litem (GAL) Association, together with its state and local members, is to support and promote court-appointed volunteer advocacy so that every abused or neglected child can be safe, establish permanence and have the opportunity to thrive. CASA/GAL volunteers advocate on behalf of children who have experienced abuse or neglect. Their best-interest advocacy helps ensure that children are safe, have a permanent home and have the opportunity to thrive."

Kappa Alpha Theta is a proud national supporter of CASA/GAL and has been supporting the organization for over three decades. Since 2016, Kappa Alpha Theta has raised over $1 million for CASA/GAL and continues to make significant contributions to the organization every single year. These funds allow CASA to "improve the outcomes for hundreds of thousands of children" they serve nation-wide.

The Eta Phi chapter helps support CASA in numerous ways, ranging from donations to workshops and events for CASA, and even members of our chapter serving as volunteers for the organization. This past year, we had a cookie decorating fundraiser and a yoga class fundraiser. This year, we are having a Flower Market for Foster Children fundraiser as well as a benefit concert called Theta Rocks the CASA.

KAPPA ALPHA THETA FOUNDATION

The Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation was created by Thetas to support Thetas with their academic, leadership, and philanthropic goals. The Theta Foundation's mission is to "secure and manage resources for the educational, leadership, and philanthropic programs of the Fraternity and for the scholastic, professional, and service pursuits of its members to help them reach their fullest potential and make a difference in the world."

At Theta, scholarship is our highest aim and every day we aim for high academic excellence. We have achieved the highest GPA among all student organizations all but one of our semesters as an established sorority. In 2012, our charter class Chief Executive Officer received the Bettie Locke Hamilton Scholarship, the foundation's highest scholarship offered. Since then, we have had many members of Eta Phi receive scholarships from the Theta Foundation that have helped them in their graduate, undergraduate, and philanthropic endeavors.  Need based and merit-based Scholarships are available for any active members of Kappa Alpha Theta.

Eta Phi has dedicated themselves to raising money for the Theta Foundation to help members receive leadership and educational grants to make their dreams attainable.
